Walter Russell Mead

Walter Russell Mead is the James Clarke Chace Professor of Foreign Affairs and Humanities at Bard College, Editor-at-Large of The American Interest magazine, the Henry A. Kissinger senior fellow for U.S. foreign policy at the Council on Foreign Relations and author of Special Providence: American Foreign Policy and How It Changed the World (Alfred A. Knopf, 2004) and God and Gold: Britain, America and the Making of the Modern World (Alfred A. Knopf, 2007). He is widely regarded as one of the country’s leading students of American foreign policy. He is a regular contributor on international affairs to The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, International Herald Tribune, Washington Post, New Yorker, Harper’s, and several other leading periodicals.
